While adding a bedroom by replacing the old drafty laundry porch of this 100-year old home for a growing family, the home’s envelope received much needed upgrades for insulation and energy efficiency. The project retrofitted the foundation and structure, and opened up the connection between dining room and kitchen for modern living. Mom and Dad now have their on en suite bathroom with large shower in the master bedroom, and an office with guestroom was renovated for working from home. This project began while Fumiko was at Pencil Box Architects and will complete construction in the summer of 2025.
