Redwood Coast Medical Services is a nonprofit community health provider serving the Mendonoma Coast. In order to better provide primary and urgent care services into the future, RCMS will build a 2-story 5,000 square foot addition to expand its existing clinic services on Ocean Drive in Gualala. The addition will enable greater flexibility of care, with a new primary care entry, adding exam rooms that can double as procedure rooms, a conference room, new nurse hub, caregiver offices, expanded Urgent Care services, and a ground floor space to be built out at a future date.
Project goals include a high performing envelope exceeding current Title 24 energy requirements, healthy materials enabling a healthy indoor environment, and site repair with native plant species and on site rain and stormwater management. The project will also extend a driveway from the existing patient drop off to the parking lot, install a new accessible ramp to access the parking lot, and expand overflow parking on site. Landscaping will replace invasive plants with native species, and install bioswales for seasonal rain gardens to manage water flows on site. This project was begun while Fumiko was at Pencil Box Architects.
The addition is currently in review by the Mendocino Planning Department.
